Zonguldak Visits of Ihsan SOYAKs Family

İhsan SOYAK graduated from the 'Zonguldak High School of Mining Engineering' in 1928-1929. After his graduation, he worked in TÜRKİŞ quarries until 1933. In 1933, he was sent to study in Europe. After his return from Europe, he worked as a Mining Engineer at Kozlu Coal Works Turkish Joint Stock Company (KÖMÜRİŞ) until 1937. After 27.08.1937, he worked as the manager of KÖMÜRİŞ, a subsidiary of EKİ TAŞ, until 30.11.1940. During the liquidation of İş Bank companies, he worked as the manager of KÖMÜRİŞ - TÜRKİŞ together between June 1939 and 30.11.1940. In 1941, İhsan SOYAK left for his military service and was appointed as the General Manager of EKİ upon early demobilization. Between 28.01.1942 - 31.07.1950, he served as General Manager of EKİ Enterprise for more than 8 years. He continued to live in the same lodging house he lived in when he was the General Manager of EKİ and he lived in Kozlu KILIÇ Director's Lodging House from 1937 until 1950. İhsan SOYAK, who served as CHP Provincial Chairman at the same time after 1944, was a guest at the Type A guesthouse for 6-7 months in 1950 until he left Zonguldak. On 09.06.1950, he left Zonguldak with the Tirana Ferry (with his daughter and wife) and settled in Istanbul. İhsan SOYAK was appointed Minister of Industry and Technology in the Second Cemal Gürsel Cabinet, replacing Şahap KOCATOPÇU.
İhsan SOYAK's daughter, Zeren ERKMEN, is coming to our city on 28.11.2022-29.11.2022 with her daughter and grandchildren, 5 people in total. They will be hosted by Zonguldak Coal Geopark and Zonguldak Chamber of Mining Engineers. On 28.11.2022 between 14.00-16.30 hours, a tour and conversation will take place in Zonguldak Mining Museum with the narration of Mr. Ekrem Murat ZAMAN, Local History Researcher Author, Chairman of the Geopark Industrial Heritage Working Group.
